Q. How do I learn about trips that council is sponsoring?
A. All trips that GSCSNJ is running are listed in the
calendar which is available
here.
Additionally, every year GSCSNJ prints a Program & Training guide that details all of the available programs. These guides are made available at Leaders' meetings whenever possible.
New trips and programs that did not make it into the guide are announced on the GSCSNJ website at
www.gscsnj.org as well
as promoted in their e-newsletter (See "
Communications").

Q. How do I learn about other activities that we can do as a troop?
A. You can visit the
Trip Ideas section on the EWAGS website. Here you can view some trip details, read reviews by other troops and
post your own reviews. EWAGS Leaders are encouraged to post thier own ideas to the list as well.
You can visit the "
Things to do, Places to go" page on the GSCSNJ website.
You can talk with other leaders and your consultants at the monthly leaders meetings.

Q. What do I need to do before I bring my troop on a trip?
A. Have each parent complete and sign a permission slip for their daughter(s) attending the trip. You can create your own
permission slip or use the one that Council has provided. (
Download it here).
For day trips within New Jersey you need to fill out the
troop trip log for your trip. The troop trip log is available online for all EWAGS leaders,
you can access it
here.
You must have your trip approved by your consultant at least a week before your trip.
For out of state or overnight trips, you need to fill out a high risk trip form. (
Download it here)
You must have your trip form signed by your consultant at least two to six weeks prior to your trip.
Chaperones must have the proper paperwork and approvals before attending the trip (See "
Helping Parents")
For more information on what is required for certain types of trips, you should consult your Safety Wise manual and the
Troop Trip Guidelines.

Q. What if a parent neglects to submit a signed permission slip prior to the event?
A. You must have something in writing from the parent prior to departure, but the specifics of this are partially up to the leaders' discretion. A leader
can opt to use an email from the parent in place of a signed permission slip if necessary. Also, you can have a blank permission slip on hand the day of the trip and insist the
parent sign it before they are able to leave their child with you. If it becomes a repeating problem, then you may want to announce to all parents that unless the forms are
handed in on time from now on, any child without a valid permission slip by the requested date will not be able to attend.

Q. We need to meet at a different location for one day, do we need a trip log for that?
A. Yes. Any activities that take place outside of the meeting dates and times that you specified when you
started your troop constitute a trip and must follow the troop trip guidelines.
